BOWEN, Australia (NBC/RTV) — The mystery of a missing mango is solved.
The “Big Mango,” the landmark of Bowen, Australia, disappeared early Monday.
Tuesday it was revealed as a publicity stunt by a local fast-food restaurant.
It was spotted in Bushland a few hundred yards from its normal location.
The chairman of Bowen’s tourism board said they weren’t behind the disappearance but welcomed the publicity it brought to the town.
The fiber-glass landmark weighs 7 tons and stands 32 feet high. It’s a symbol of Bowen, the mango-growing capital of Australia.
