PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — For the children at Little Angels Learning Center in Pflugerville, nap time is a daily occurrence — but only for the kids.
So you can imagine how surprised a father was when he came to pick up his 4-year-old son and found one of the day care workers asleep with several children around her.
“I yelled out, ‘Hey’, and she didn’t hear me,” said Michael Keathley. “Then I said, ‘Hey’ again, and the third time she finally woke up.”
Keathley said he stopped by to check on his son, Robert, and saw the teacher with her head down on the desk. Robert had only been in day care for five days.

“They’re 3- and 4-year-old kids in the classroom,” Keathley added. “That’s just way too young not to have supervision.”
The teacher, who has 22 years experience, was on medication that caused her to become drowsy, according to Robyn Ramos, Little Angels Learning Center director.
“She’s on a three-day suspension until I determine, with the owner, what we should do so this never happens again,” Ramos said. “We’re all about safety. We love these kids.”
A spokesperson for the Department of Family and Protective Services says they’re aware of the incident and investigating. As of now, the teacher is expected back the end of this week.
Keathley has taken his son out of the day care and plans to send him somewhere else.
Little Angels watches kids from 4 weeks to 11 years old. It’s been open since 2003 and is a licensed day care. The center was cited three times last year, including an allegation that a child was either threatened or placed in an unsafe situation.
