BOWEN, Australia (NBC/RTV) — One city in Australia is on the hunt for a monster of a mango.

Bowen’s 7-ton, 32-foot-high “Big Mango” has disappeared.

It’s a recreation of the fruit and a symbol of the city, which is known as Australia’s mango-growing capital.

Staff at the local tourist information center discovered the landmark was gone when they arrived to work Monday.

They’re looking at surveillance video, but so far the search has proven fruitless. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
