AUSTIN (KXAN) — A bus crashed into a woman as she was trying to cross the street on Friday morning at the corner of Dean Keeton and Wichita Street.

According to the Austin Police Department, EMS transported the pedestrian with minor injuries to a nearby hospital. Originally, Cap Metro officials said the woman’s injuries were minor and she was not being transported to the hospital.

Cap Metro officials said the UT shuttle bus was facing Eastbound on Dean Keeton, then turned left to go to Northbound on Wichita Street as the woman was trying to cross and she walked into the bus and was hit by the left side of the vehicle. They said the woman will be issued a citation for “walking against the light.”

The bus was taken out of service and a back-up vehicle was sent out to help. The driver will be issued a standard drug and alcohol test.
