Third arrest made following downtown brawl that went viral

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police made a third arrest following a downtown brawl captured on camera that later went viral earlier this month.

Matthew McCoy kicked a man in the back while he was lying on the ground during the fight on East Sixth Street, police said. He is charged with assault with injury.

On Tuesday, the first two arrests in the case were made. Kevin Morris, 24, was booked into Travis County Jail on charges of theft from a person and assault, according to jail records.

Morris contacted police once the video went viral. He admitted to kicking two people and taking another person’s wallet and throwing it on the roof of a local business.

Police said Morris started the fight.

Williamson County authorities also arrested Marcus Ferebee on assault charges for his involvement in the fight. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
