AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a pickup truck in East Austin on Thursday evening.

Police said the crash happened around 7:15 p.m. in the 6400 block of Farm to Market 969, just east of Highway 183.

The driver of the truck was going westbound on FM 969 when he entered the center turn lane and hit the pedestrian who was standing in the center turn lane.

Austin-Travis County EMS said a man in his 20s was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with life-threatening injuries.

The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with police.

Police said this section of FM 969 is dimly lit.

The location of this crash is in the same area where a man was struck and killed by a car in November. Police said Jessie Williams, 66, died when he was crossing FM 969 and was struck by a driver in a Corolla. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
