AUSTIN (AP) — Thieves have stolen nearly $55,000 worth of computers from a storage area at the University of Texas in Austin.

Campus police report dozens of Apple MacBook Pro devices were discovered missing late last week. Investigators believe the theft happened last Thursday or early Friday.

Investigators say the computers are worth about $1,000 each and were in a secured first-floor storage area of UT’s Main Building.

Authorities have not announced any arrests.

Campus police on Tuesday referred questions to a UT spokeswoman, who didn’t immediately return messages. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
