AUSTIN (KXAN)Four separate stages of the Mopac Improvement project are slated to start or are already underway as of Sunday night.

First, more restriping is expected to occur. Two lanes will be closed northbound Enfield to 2222 after 5 p.m. Drivers should expect delays.

Crews are also starting the process of clearing the median area and removing the existing highway lighting, concrete traffic barriers, cable barriers, guardrail and plant material between US 183 and RM 2222. Overnight lane closures may be needed to allow crews to access the work area.

The same area may have lane closures until the 21st for temporary light pole installation.
