Man dead in fiery NE Travis County crash

TRAVIS COUNTY (KXAN) – A man is dead following a fiery crash in Northeast Travis County Saturday morning. Another person was taken by Starflight to UMC Brackenridge with life-threatening injuries.

Fire officials say a vehicle rolled over before going up in flames near Elgin at about 6:55 a.m. The crash happened in the 16000 block of FM 1100, near U.S. 290. At least one person was ejected from the car, which was traveling at a high rate of speed, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.

FM 1100 is closed in both directions as DPS troopers investigate. The sheriff’s office says the roadway will remain closed for “an extended period of time.
