CHICAGO (CNN) — Have you ever wondered how the Oscar statuettes are made?
Well, they start out here at R.S. Owens & Company in Chicago.
Liquid metal is poured into a cast, and moments later out comes the Oscar.
Every statuette is inspected, polished and given an individual serial number.
The whole process takes seven days from start to finish.
Then, the Oscars are shipped off to Los Angeles for Hollywood’s biggest night of the year.
