Man charged with human trafficking, 11 others captured after chase in Fayette County

FLATONIA, Texas (KXAN) — A man was charged with human trafficking and 11 others were detained after a police chase near Flatonia, Texas on Thursday morning.

Authorities attempted to stop Oscar Orlando Ramos, 28, on Interstate 10 shorty before 9 a.m., but when he refused, a Department of Public Safety trooper and Fayette County deputy gave chase.

After a short pursuit, the Ramos ran out of roadway at the top of a hill and took off on foot along with 11 others packed into the Dodge Durango.

Ramos was captured a short time later by Lobos, the Fayette County sheriff department’s K-9.

The 11 others, who had entered the country illegally, were apprehended and later picked up by immigration and customs enforcement agents.

Ramos, from Irving, was also charged with evading arrest in a motor vehicle. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
