West ISD receives two FEMA grants

AUSTIN (KXAN) — West ISD will receive two public assistance grants totalling $20 million for repairs caused by the fertilizer plant explosion in April 2013.

The money will be used to fix West’s badly damaged schools. Congressman Bill Flores said the grants “could not come at a better time as West ISD is hoping to start construction of the new school facilities in the near future.”

The construction of these schools would allow students to leave their temporary facilities for permanent classrooms. Click here for more information on the grants.
