AUSTIN (KXAN) – The deadline for the Texas tuition program which allows participants to avoid tuition increases at Texas public colleges and universities is fast approaching.
Feb. 28 will be the last day Texas families will be able to enroll their children in the Texas Tuition Promise Fund – a program that allows participants to lock in the cost of undergraduate tuition and required fees at Texas public colleges and universities based on current prices. The deadline extends to July 31 for children younger than 1 year of age.
Under the plan families can prepay tuition and required fees for a four-year degree, two years of community college or just a few semesters at Texas public colleges and universities by purchasing tuition units. The next annual enrollment period begins Sept. 1 with new contract prices based on Texas public college costs for the 2014 to 2015 academic year.
