AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man in his 30s was shot in the leg in the Gracy Farms area in North Austin on Friday afternoon, and another was questioned by police in connection with the incident, authorities said.

The report came in from the Extended Stay Suites at 2700 Gracy Farms around 5:25 p.m. near Burnet/Duval and Mopac Expressway.

APD says since the call came in as multiple shots fired, they took no chances and secured the area searching for an active shooter.

“When the officers get here, what we want to do is secure the crime scene and not try to work backwards,” said Cpl. Wut Tantaksinanukij. “We want to start the investigation broad and lock everything down with all the facts.”

Shortly before 8 p.m., Austin police provided an update and said they were not actively searching for any suspects and residents were being allowed back into their rooms at the hotel.

Police say no arrests were made and the area is considered safe.

The man who was shot was taken to a Round Rock hospital where he is stable condition.

Police are still working to determine if someone shot the man, or if he may have accidentally shot himself.

No other details were immediately available.
