Two tech companies expanding in Austin

A California company is relocating to Austin and another California-based company is planning on expanding their footprint in Austin.

On Thursday, the Governor’s Office announced that Websense Inc. and Dropbox Inc. are getting investments  through the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF).

Before the company can receive the state money, the City of Austin has to finalize its incentive proposals.

If approved, both companies will bring in 640 new full-time jobs and capital investment of more than $15 million.

Websense is relocating its corporate headquarters from San Diego to Austin, creating 445 new jobs. Websense is a leading global cybersecurity company that protects organizations from the latest cyberattacks and data theft.

Dropbox is expanding its Austin operations with additional sales and operations positions, creating 170 new jobs and a projected capital investment of $5.5 million.
