AUSTIN (KXAN) — A chain-reaction wreck led to an SUV crashing into an Austin Independent School District bus with children on board in Southeast Austin Thursday morning.

Police say the school bus was in the process of making its regular pickup at Lakeview Apartments when this happened at 2401 South Lakeshore Blvd.  That’s at the intersection of Town Lake Circle and just west of South Pleasant Valley Road.

The bus driver had picked up some students at its regular stop in front of the apartments on Lakeshore Boulevard, had stopped and was waiting to pick up more students.

The driver had turned the bus’ flashing lights off, and that’s when a Mazda 3 went around the bus. A blue SUV hit the Mazda and then hit the bus.

No children aboard the school bus were hurt, but one child from the SUV was taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile, police have not issued any citations.
