AUSTIN (KXAN) — After recently moving their corporate headquarters from Houston to Austin, packaged health food shop My Fit Foods was selected as the food provider for the Seattle Seahawks training camp.
“A good friend of mine was actually putting on the camp for the Seahawks and knew that he needed a nutrition component to it,” Matt Reilly, Austin Store General Manager for My Fit Foods, said. “[He] called me right up and got me involved.”
Fully immersed in the Seahawks’ training camp, My Fit Foods employees got to interact daily with the football players as they prepared for Super Bowl XLVIII.
“A great group of individuals,” Reilly said. “Russell Wilson, Doug Baldwin – great guys, a work ethic like no other, and a true winning spirit.”
And as you can imagine, the players were training – and they were hungry. But just how much food did they consume?
“Over 700 meals in the period of time that they came in,” Reilly said.
“After every workout we did a great post-workout snack: a chicken/fruit bowl,” Reilly said. “A great combination between lean protein and carbohydrates, it helps replenish your body after a hard, strenuous workout like these guys were doing. And I’ll tell you what – they ate every single piece of it.”
And the healthy food just may have worked.
“I think Sunday proved that,” Reilly laughed.
