Man takes stolen big rig on slow-speed chase

Slow-speed big-rig chase lasted four hours (NBC/KCRA)

STOCKTON, Calif.  (NBC/KCRA) — The California Highway Patrol and Stockton police chased a stolen big rig for nearly four hours.

The slow-speed chase began around 3:15 a.m. and ended at 7 a.m. Thursday in a Stockton neighborhood.

The suspect eventually jumped out of the big rig and ran into a nearby neighborhood.

Officers ran after him for just a few minutes before catching him between houses.

A California Highway Patrol officer said the truck was carrying about 80,000 pounds of scrap metal and about 100 gallons of diesel fuel. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
