MIE, Japan (NBC/NTV) — With the Sochi Olympics about to begin, people in Japan are placing their faith in a good-luck golden fish.

The golden flounder was hauled from seas off Central Japan.

The man who caught the fish says he hasn’t seen anything like it in 30 years of fishing.

In just nine days, Japan will find out if the fish can really bring the gold to its athletes.
