APD enforcing no-refusal for Super Bowl

The Austin Police Department will enforce no refusal for Super Bowl Sunday. The initiative will begin at 7:30 Sunday night and end Monday morning at 5:00.

APD officers will be able to obtain blood search warrants from DWI suspects who refuse to give a breath or blood sample. Police say the initiative is an effort to keep the public safe and enforce DWI laws.

On Super Bowl Sunday 2013, 21 people were arrested for DWI during APD’s no refusal period.
