Photos: Families have fun with lighter side of snow

While even the slightest mention of snow in Austin and the surrounding areas quite often sends people into a tizzy, many families throughout the area found the lighter side to the “white stuff” that blanketed Central Texas.

Baby Andrea Arreguin and her family took to sledding on their driveway’s slope in Northeast Austin, even getting big sister in on the action.

And they weren’t the only ones with the bright idea on a snow day — which meant a day off from school for students in dozens of area districts.

Mom Mary and her son Dante enjoyed their day off, sledding on what looked like a cardboard box down a snow-white slope.

While everything is bigger in Texas, the snowmen aren’t. But what they lack in size, they sure do make up for with character.
