AUSTIN (KXAN) While no official announcement has been made by Texas, Charlie Strong’s coaching staff is nearly complete.

Strong is waiting to until his entire staff is complete to make all the hirings official.

One of the positions Strong hasn’t filled is offensive coordinator. Shawn Watson, who was Louisville’s offensive coordinator for the four years Strong was with the Cardinals, will be an offensive coach for Texas. It’s unsure what his exact role will be, but it’s expected to be working with the quarterbacks, and could still be offensive coordinator.

Meanwhile, Tommie Robinson, who was with USC in 2013 as running backs coach, will serve the same role with the Longhorns. Before his time with the Trojans, he spent three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals coaching the running backs.

Strong’s offensive line coach will be Joe Wickline from Oklahoma State. Wickline spent the last nine seasons with the Cowboys and was one of the coaches Texas targeted in 2011 before Stacy Searels was hired.

Tight ends coach Bruce Chambers is the only coach that will be retained from the previous staff. Aside from former strength coach Jeff Madden, Chambers was the only coach to spend all 16 years at Texas with Mack Brown.

The only other position Strong hasn’t filled is receivers coach, a role that Darrell Wyatt held for three seasons.

On the other side of the ball, Strong’s defensive staff appears to be complete. His defensive coordinator at Louisville, Vance Bedford, will hold the same position at Texas. Bedford played defensive back for the Horns from 1977-1981. Bedford had been with Strong dating back to their time as assistants at Florida, when he was the Gators’ defensive backs coach and Strong was the defensive coordinator. His most recent job in the Big 12 was as Oklahoma State’s defensive coordinator in 2007.

While Bedford’s always been a defensive backs coach when he hasn’t been a coordinator, Texas has hired Chris Vaughn to coach the secondary. Vaughn coached the cornerbacks with Memphis for the past two seasons, and coached defensive backs at Ole Miss from 2008-2011.

Chris Rumph will coach the defensive line. He spent the past three seasons coaching the same position at Alabama where he was part of the Tide’s back-to-back national titles in 2011 and 2012.

Another coaching carryover from Strong’s Louisville Staff is linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary. He spent three seasons with the Cardinals, and was with Georgia Tech before that.
