290 speed limit decrease starts Jan. 7

DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas (KXAN) – The Texas Department of Transportation will place new speed limit signs on U.S. Highway 290 between Nutty Brown Road and Rob Shelton Boulevard on Tuesday.

The speed limit will be reduced from 65 to 60, although a Hays County Commissioner requested the speed limit to be reduced from 65 to 55. The change was approved in November after we told you about the danger of this stretch of highway .

The signs are expected to go up at 10 a.m.
