Kevin Schwaller joined the KXAN News team in September 2013 as a multiplatform journalist.
Kevin comes to central Texas from Missouri where he worked at KOLR 10 News as a general assignment reporter and photographer specializing in politics and policy.
He covered the 2012 elections and sat down for a series of one-on-one interviews with many of the major Missouri candidates. His coverage of the election included following the race between Sen. Claire McCaskill and Rep. Todd Akin, which received national attention after his comments regarding sexual assault.
Kevin was also one of the first outside reporters to reach Joplin, Mo. after a deadly EF-5 tornado struck in 2011. He followed the story from moments after the destruction through the first years of the rebuilding process.
The Missouri Broadcasters Association honored Kevin with a certificate of merit for a 2011 news series about synthetic marijuana and Missouri law.
Kevin grew up in the southern suburbs of Chicago. Outside of work, he enjoys recreational hiking and cycling. Kevin also plays guitar and is an avid music fan which one of the many reasons he’s now proud to call Austin home.
